My skin was really dry. Same with spots too. I started using seaweed toner from the body shop which really helped. I also use E45 for my legs etc. Mine was a bit trial and error at first. X
omg yes I think thats when my skin problens started and of course nothings ever explained and its really hard as you can hide your hair or hands with hats and gloves but your face is on display constantly, i hope you're ok and sending you lots of love
Sorry love, thats annoying! I wash and moisturize at least twice a day with Korean skincare. it doesn't prevent my hormonal breakouts but helps them heal up real quick and nice so they dont scar or form heads and has prevented the deep ones along my jaw line. i think the morning and night cleaning and moisturizing makes a big difference. If i skip some mornings, only washing at night then they start forming heads. I struggle with really oily combo skin tho. I like the korean pimple patches too
thank you for your reply and i understand what you mean, its easy to just skip for one night but its our skin letting us know they're not happy, do you get your skincare in health stores or chemist?
I order online from Korean skincare brand innisfree. I've tried many of their products and they're all gentle on my super sensitive skin, any of their cleansers and creams. Everything usually makes my skin feel burning, and "sensitive" products were never that gentle on my skin, but everything from this brand is. Korea really knows what they are doing with skincare. But like I said, my skin isn't perfectly clear its just keeping it under control and doesn't irritate it more. Theres a new retinol product but i haven't tried it yet.
Hi, mine’s the same. The only advice I can give you is to treat your skin as ‘sensitive’, rather than ‘congested.’ Clinique is the only thing that calms the skin on my face, and I only use the unscented, super-sensitive products. T-gel shampoo when my hairline’s really dry x x
I’m so sorry you are suffering with your skin. I had similar problems (endo and gluten intolerant too) and found the skin friend supplements and cream worked really well. This is going through loads of different creams etc. But they’re not cheap!
I did buy a couple as there was a deal on at the time and have an unopened AM and PM that you’d be really welcome to have. I fortunately haven’t had to use the second lot as my skin really cleared up. Happy to post to you if you’d like to give them a go.
thank you so much for your reply and wow that's very kind of you. I'm in Ireland so i don't know how the postage would go but I'm going to look into this company, I'm coeliac 20yrs now so I'm used to having to pay more for things. Never realised that my endometriosis was responsible for my coeliac disease and Thyroid issues .
if you’d like me to post to you, I’d be really happy to, just not sure of protocol / privacy etc (new to forum too!) any ideas let me know. Also greenpeople.co.uk/ have a great sensitive skin range 😊
im struggling with my skin too. Basically hormonal acne cuased by combo of mirena and depo. U used the compnay called skin and me, you fill out a questionnaire detailing your skin issues as well as noting meds you take and conditions you have, you also send pictures of your skin and a dermatologist studies the info and they then send you an appropriate serum. Its cheap as a trial but then a bit pricey… totally worth it as its the only thing that’s cleared my skin up… skinandme.com/
Hi Lovely so sorry your going through this, do you eat dairy at all? Ive found that everytime it eat dairy it causes my skin to break out, also are you on any hormonal medications? I had the coil put in after my laparoscopy and my skin flared up on a regular basis.
thank you for your reply and i don't eat much dairy tbh i don't like any type of milk. From june to October last year I had decapeptyl injections but i flatly refused the coil, i tried the mini pill up to January this year and gave up, my GP agrees that no synthetic hormonal treatment suits me so I'm just on pain meds now ( ponstan)
it’s never ending isn’t it. Endometriosis caused rosacea for me. I have to wear foundation every day to cover the red blotches, I hate it!!!! I’ve tried a vegan diet and numerous skin care routines and nothing reduced the rosacea. I use retinol and moisturizer from medik8 which keeps my skin nicely hydrated but sadly still red and blotchy
thank you for your reply and yes it is like roseaca thats what my GP thinks it looks like too. I am exactly the same, i have to use a tinted moisturiser to tone down the redness, its very disheartening. I'm currently using silcocks base cream but i just want my skin to be normal
I have rosacea which started after I started taking the POP pill to stop my periods due to endo. DERmatologist says it will stop as soon as I stop pill but I can't stop it as pain is too bad, but I use soolantra and that has made it so much better, Go to see a dermatologist they will point you in the right direction.
Superdrug do a vitamin E body cream which is really cheap compared to the brand name moisturizes. It's possible that some other big shops have something similar.
The only thing I found that helped with my acne was a Chinese herbal lotion caller 101E that was truly wondrous.
hey lovely! I struggled with this but was recommended rose hip oil! It’s amazing I get it from boots and it’s really hydrating and has helped calm down my spots so much! Xo
so at night and in the mornings I wipe my face with a clearasil rapid action pad then use the rose hip oil after - my skins not perfect but it’s SO much better than what it was I swear by it xo
ohhhh oh ok that's interesting. My skin used to be very oily but first time I've ever had dry skin and my spots are red boil like lumps which are suddenly there and huge during periods and then almost roseacea like the rest of the month
yeah I suffer from eczema but my face is either oily or dry depending on my time of the month I still get the occasional big sore spot when I’m on my period (usually on my chin or right between my eyes haha) but as soon as I hit 30 it looked like I had adult acne until I got in this routine. I used to try all sorts like tea tree oil etc but found that just dried my skin out even more. I’ve learned it’s better to be nice to your skin than use loads of harsh products to try dry out spots cause that makes them worse xo
I had to have full hysterectomy last year and now on hrt so found my skin suffering just really dry more than anything and lifeless. Give them both a try
omg you poor thing, yes its the extreme dryness and dullness and then the sudden red boil like lumps that i can't understand. When spots are gone its just constant redness but thank you i will look into this.
Hi I completely understand your situation and feeling like you want to hide your face when you know you don't feel comfortable or confident. I have always suffered with dry skin but more lipid dry than anything. I actually find the Childs Farm sensitive baby moisturiser works great to make the appearance of my skin better. I use Source of Nature cleanser and exfoliator. Usually when I don't want to put anything on my face I just put skinny tan sun care range on to give a hint of colour when it looks patchy and tired. Every skin is different but hopefully you find something that works for you. Xx
thank you for your reply and that makes a lot of sense, i love the simplicity of your skincare routine and its something I'm trying to work out for myself. Makes sense to use sensitive baby products and never thought of them. You just summarised exactly what it feels like thank you and sending you lots of love
You are very welcome. I do moisturise everyday also and occasionally use ARK night cream for additional moisture boost and its soothing. Moisturisers can be difficult to choose and sometimes its a case of trialing a few. I hope it settles and you feel comfortable again xx
I have endo and psoriasis so have to be very conscious of my skincare. I wash with Aveeno dermexa bodywash and use aveeno with shea butter (the blue top one) body lotion. They contain no smell so you don't get any spa vibes in the bathroom but i think being comfortable in your own skin is more important. I also take vitamin E 400iu/268mg daily which helps with the dryness . I definitely avoid anything containing SLS (sodium lautherate sulphite) which is a foaming agent in many products as this strips your skin on moisture (its used in carpet cleaners so pretty harsh stuff). It can be exhausting finding the time for skincare while fighting endo but im trying to prioritise it by showering earlier in the evening while I still have a scrap of energy. Hope you find something that works for you 🙂
sorry I know this is an older post but just wondered where you get dry skin? I get red dry patches that flare up from time to time below mouth/chin but also get hormonal acne mainly on jaw line/neck. I haven’t been diagnosed with endo but do have quite a few of the symptoms and also suffer with PCOS too.
Never apologise for replying to a post, I appreciate each and every reply as I learn so much from other's experience. Thank you for your reply. I get on forehead and cheeks, mouth tends to be just redness. My whole body developed dry skin also which was new to me as I'd never had any of that before. I was told over the years I had ibs, pcos and just an underactive Thyroid that will settle down with the right meds! Through laparscopy I was eventually diagnosed with endometriosis thats spread to bladder and rectum in 2018 so keep looking for answers and you will get there.
