Anyone with the mirena coil… do you suffer from new or worsening mental health issues? I have had quite distressing anxiety, panic attacks and (very) new symptoms of paranoia very soon after getting the mirena.
I just want to know if anyone else has suffered with this. I just have no idea if the mirena has anything to do with it.
Thank you

I have an anxiety, but never connected it to Mirena. Ha, I started having episodes shortly after Mirena insertion. It might be connected to how I feel.
I found my mental health was significantly worse during the time I had the Mirena. I gave it 18 months before having it removed. I felt my mood was much more balanced afterwards, it was a relief to be rid of it. It didn’t stop my periods at all, just seemed to make me have irregular bleeding.
I don’t think hormonal contraceptives agree with me at all. I’ve recently re-started the combined pill for endo purposes, but I don’t feel that it’s the cure all my GP thinks it is…
Hi. Just reaching out as I had my mirena fitted 5months ago. The first two months, I had episodes of really severe depressive moods, anxiety. It weirdly just stopped after 2 months, 🤞🏽 but I definitely think it can affect mood. Really hope it settles down and it’s definitely worth discussing with your doctor as to whether there may be another option that’s better for you .
umm hi. I just made a post about the same thing. I would have come here first had I seen your post. I have had mine in for a year now. Initially after insertion I had some bad waves of panic. I reached out to my doctor who said that it should pass as my body got used to the hormones. It did and things were ok until this past month. Horrendous panic attacks out of nowhere and now I am not able to get ahold of myself like I was pre-iud. I just sent a message to my doctor asking what her thoughts are on mirena and anxiety. I hope things get better for you, and for me too. I know I can’t continue like this.
