so, my endometriosis hasn't improved with diagnosis of the condition. Last time I saw my consultant he is ordering me to have am MRI done to see if I have deep endometriosis in my lower abdomen. I know from reading that this won't necessarily pick anything up? I was wondering would it show anything?
cheers

Hi BeUa. I just had the results of my MRI. I had already had a lap surgery 2 years ago which showed endo in ovarian fossa and rectouterine cavity. MRI confirmed deep infiltrating endometriosis, adhesion and pulling between rectum and uterus but could not confirm or rule out adenomyosis or endo within rectum. Dr had stated prior to MRI that he wanted to do surgery, but wasn't sure if it would need to be lap hysterectomy. Dr doesn't to do hysterectomy now, but excision of all endo between uterus and bowel. He does not know if I will need bowel surgery but does not want to invite colorectal surgeon until he has looked at endo around rectum. I'm not happy on that last point as colorectal surgeon needs to be looking at that area, but I have to wait minimum of 2 years for surgery anyway. That's my situation around MRI, but I already had laparoscopic surgery previously, so your situation may be different.
Thank you that has helped. My Dr thinks I got deep infiltration of endometriosis so I hope it can be confirmed purely because of the symptoms I keep getting.I have had surgery but hasn't helped to be honest. I hope everything goes OK for you x
