MRI wait times

I had an ultrasound at the start of March that confirmed I have a large ovarian cyst, I was referred for an MRI and still waiting.

I was diagnosed with endo after an emergency laparotomy 10 years ago and have had a laparoscopy to remove cysts 8 years ago too.

I’m very aware I’ll probably need another surgery but all this waiting is so depressing, my belly is so bloated.

I’m in Scotland and just wondered how long others have waited.

The wait times are shocking have you tried to contact them to ask how long and say you will have a cacnelletion sometimes you have to try to be pushy to get anywhere xxxx

A friend is also waiting on an mri scan and he found out who to phone but can’t get through at all 🙈 I think there’s just not enough staff to deal with the amount of patients needing seen.

I had my MRI within 2 weeks. I don't know for some some reason my doctor sent an urgent request for it. May be I was quite low in mood when I had my appointment with the doctor.

Is it possible to be on a wait list for a laparoscopy at the same time? I just wonder what difference the MRI will make other than just delay the likely laparoscopy?

I remember the doctor saying on the phone “you have a large ovarian cyst but we don’t know what’s causing it, you’ll need an MRI” I told her it will be my endometriosis so if it’s just to figure out what’s causing it I’ll be raging, just get me on the surgery list! 🤣 I’m due a smear test so I’ll ask when I’m in if they can tell me whats going on with my scan.

Seems like it’s dragging it out unnecessarily. I needed an MRI for something else last year and ended up paying privately unfortunately.
