Pelvic Physio in Manchester on the NHS?

Hello!

After watching The Women's Health Programme on channel 5 last night and a woman on there saying Pelvic Physio has basically changed her life and reduced the amount of pain killers she needs to take I am going to ask my GP if I can be referred. However, is anyone aware of any places that offer the service on the NHS in the Manchester area?

Many thanks in advance

I think there’s a national register of physios you can search which might help you find one - try the Endometriosis UK helplines and they might be able to direct you. I can’t remember if I actually found the link to pelvic Physio’s via the Endometriosis UK website

Also - I’ve found the book Heal Pelvic Pain by Amy Stein helpful - she’s a leading pelvic physiotherapist.

Thank you so much for your reply. I spoke with my GP today who initially stated there wasn't anything locally but then I saw your post so I actually searched for a physiotherapy register. I came across thepogp.co.uk/patients/phys... (I've put it in incase anyone comes across my post in the future in case it helps). I have found someone and they actually work in my local hospital to so my GP has referred me, my GP is unsure if the referral will be accepted on the NHS but it's worth a shot, if not I will look at paying privately for it but with the cost of IVF as well atm I thought might as well try. I'll defo have a look at that book as well.

Thanks again xx

You’re so welcome! That’s great your GP has tried. If they reject it you could ask the service who they accept referrals from, to see if there’s someone else you can go via. Best wishes for your journey xx

Hi, I’ve had huge relief and improved mobility and pain relief with adding pelvic core physio into my plan. So it’s certainly worth a try. Being in a remote area with poor services however I found a online physio specialist in pelvic recovery and endo did some one to ones with her - she’s also got a online programme that have gone onto as well. It’s changed my life.

Thank you for your reply! I am so glad you have managed to have some pain relief from the pelvic physio. I am shocked that it isn't more well known or offered because surly it is more cost effective for the NHS let alone the issues that come with long term opioid use. xxx

Hi BloomingMarvellous. I also live in a remote area so would be interested in an online programme if possible. Would you mind sharing the details?

Thank you!

Couldn’t agree more. I think it’s essential learning for young women irrespective of gynaecology issues or not. Could save NHS millions. Great preventative care
