I’ve been perscribed mefenamic acid a couple of weeks ago and I’ve started to use them as soon as I felt cramps, which was 3 days ago, my period Is still not here and I’m scared of getting off the capsules because I don’t want to go through the pain. I want to know if you came take these for more than 3 days

I was advised to start taking it a couple of days before due period and then as needed. I was also given tranexmatic acid (apologies I can’t remember exact spelling pre coffee!) to take on first 3 days maybe you’ve been advised about the wrong one.

Try discussing with pharmacist or gp

Yes, keep taking it for as long as you need it during the flare. Just make sure to eat before so it doesn’t upset your tummy :)

Hi I've taken mefanatic and transenamic acid in the past and my daughter currently uses mefanatic, my understanding is that they are used to thicken period blood making it more gelatinous to ease heavy flow, with endo you bleed not just in your womb but in other locations, however I don't think it will cause you any harm to continue to take the medication it maybe an idea to speak to your gp about pain relief as both me and my daughter where had the acids paired with pain relief such as cocodamol And my daughter is on naproxen during the time of the month which is a step up from ibuprofen. Also you can purcase cocodamol over the counter if paracetamol isn't helping as long as you've had it before if not I recommend trying it when you have no plans as it can make you groggy and sleepy or taking it before bed, they will say it's for short term use as there is worry by chemists that it can be addictive but my doctor has had me on cocodamol for the past 4 years so I personally think it's to cover themselves and if i recall you can get a femenax naproxen over the counter as well, hopefully you feel better soon 😊
