how often can I take mefenamic acid?

My pack of mefenamic acid just says take three times a day...is it like ibuprofen where it is 4 hours apart or does it need to be longer?

I used to take mine with my breakfast, my lunch and my evening meal. I didn't notice any pain in between doses, but I'm sure you can give the information leaflet in the pack for any questions. But three times a day with a decent time gap in between should be fine. If you've still got any more questions you can probably ask your GP or the pharmacist in your local pharmacy.

yeah, was diagnosed in October x Was taking the mefanamic acid before my surgery and got the coil fitted afterwards : )

glad to hear it helps you I preloaded ibuprofen for 5 days before my period (not intentionally this long...it turned up late!) and took mefenamic acid this morning when it started - touch wood I haven't had much pain today. Although now I just feel like a fraud as I haven't had my lap yet lol! x

Don't feel that way at all! Mefanamic acid is proper brilliant (though remember not to take ibuprofen at the same time!) and it really helped me before my surgery. As I only have mild endo and it was ablated I can cope with just ibuprofen now but it really was a godsend as not only did it help my pain but it really reduced my periods. I used to bleed for seven days at least and when I was taking it I'd be on for 3 or 4 days. When's your lap date? xx

yep I have switched to MA today instead of the ibuprofen

I don't have my lap date yet, I have just chased the secretaries this morning as I just want to know then I can plan around it. Is that a horse I spy in your avatar? x
