I just wanted to get others opinions on mirena coil for helping with endometriosis symptoms. I was diagnosed last September through laparoscopy. I have been taking the mini pill to help with painful periods for around 3 years now but I am going to come off it for a while and give my body a break as lately I am bleeding irregularly. The mirena is something that has been mentioned to me many times at the doctors and the hospital but it's not something I have ever seriously considered. What are your thoughts on it? has the mirena helped your symptoms? Do you get a lot of irregular bleeding with the coil at first?
Thanks

Hiya, I was offered the same and refused due to previous coils getting stuck in womb. My consultant said they're like marmite some ladies find them ok and others not. He said it can be removed easily if I had it but due to historical issues, I said no. He totally understood but also told me it should help.
Thanks for your reply. I am worried if I go ahead and don't like it will take a while to get it removed as all the doctors I have spoke to say you have to give it chance to settle. I am a big worrier
Sorry I pressed send before had finished!! I worry about most things and have heard stories of coils moving so that really puts me off but I am so fed up with the pill so feel it's a last resort x
So I have had them over 17 years and they give me so much relief!! A heavy, painful 10 day period swapped for a 3 day, pain free period, requiring a panty liner only. Yes please!
It’s uncomfortable having them inserted but like a smear, you learn to relax and breathe through it. (Some women passionately disagree and that’s ok).
The horror stories of them hurting and getting lodged in your uterus as few and far between. Don’t be put off by a minimal risk.
No need for contraception 99.9% effective
Lighter periods
Lessens pain of period
Period lasts for 3 days
Period so light just need a panty liner
Gives me energy
Gives me my life back
Spotting and cramping after insertion is 2 day minimum for me.
Had it fitted 2 days before my honeymoon and all kinds of sex was fine.
My current Partner cannot feel it and we are all good.
Thanks for your reply. It's good to hear such a positive story!! I think I may give it a try but want to come off my pill first and have a bit of a break. 👍
Thanks. Yes I will speak to my doctor. I'm on the mini pill which I was put on before I was diagnosed to help with symptoms. Lately though my period is so irregular and can last 2 weeks so I am thinking that it's the pill causing this as I was really irregular when I first went on it but it did settle for quite a while.
