Coil, bleeding an norethisterone

Had a merina coil fitted about a week ago, now started to bleed and have cramping. Basically I’m having a period but a tad lighter than normal. Have the above meds for my holiday, it normally works and worried that with all the extra hormones it won’t. Also on hrt, anyone got any helpful advice. Ps dont want to know if it has come out as I’m paranoid about that as it is!

Hi Jenny1974, I permanently take norethisterone with my merina coil to stop bleeding so you should be fine.Enjoy your holiday!

I've had the mirena coil, on and off, since 2006 and it gave me my life back!

PS . It's never dropped out.

I've replaced it a few times, over the years with no problems. I do recall (and being told to expect) some bleeding and/or spotting, with every new coil but that always petered out.

I was told I may have to remove or replace the mirena when I turned 50. When this milestone arrived, a clinican explained that a woman is expected to start experiencing menopausal changes.

Essentially, I'm 52 this year and I don't know whether or not I've hit menopause because I've had the coil since I was 36!

Thank you, yes has given me a little peace of mind x thank you x I’m sure I’ll soon forget about it x yes think the bleeding is common x started taking tablets to stop it whilst I go away x thanks again for sharing your story x
