After seeing my consultant at the end of May and being told I needed a full hysterectomy due to abscesses in my Fallopian tubes, endo & fibroids I would be looking at a wait of 3-6 months; I have since been told it will be 12 months plus 😩.
I am now making enquiries at private hospitals and wondered if anyone had any experience of private hospitals in the South East (Uk).
Hi I am in the east and was told only 2 weeks ago I need a full hysterectomy, then my consultant dropped the bombshell the waiting like is likely to be 2 years. He has written to my gp and asked her to carry on with Zoladex and tibolone until my surgery. I discussed private with my consultant but why should we have to pay. My fatigue is chronic and I am self employed. I just feel trapped in an NHS that is struggling.
I’ve just gone through exactly the same situation. I was looking at at least another 6-9 months wait on the NHS, that was after 2 years of trying various treatments before settling on a hysterectomy. So I chose to go private. I had a very positive experience at our local private hospital in NW Kent, I had my surgery last week and all is going really well so far.
I would say though that private hospitals are also incredibly busy at the moment dealing with overflow from the NHS. A colleague had surgery a few years ago and was in within two weeks of deciding to go ahead with her op. I had to wait almost 12 weeks even via the private hospital.
For me it was definitely worth the money/short wait. Wishing you all the best with your treatment.
