Any advice on what pill to ask at gynea consultation?

Hi all,

I'm considering going on the pill again to manage my endo symptoms. It's been a while since I've taken any hormonal contraceptives. I know it all depends on many factors, but what would you advise me to ask for? Is there any particular pill that is better for endo management? Thanks!

Hi Dorea, I have been prescribed Desogestrel (progesterone only pill) about a week ago for endometriosis and I am starting to find some relief. I also have a Mirena Coil and been told that both together will work well to aid with pain. Apparently the combined mini-pill doesn’t work as well for endometriosis as we need to avoid aestrogen. Hope this is helpful and best wishes.

Thanks for your answer! I thought the same about estrogen, so I'm glad you mentioned the progesterone-only pill. I'll definitely have a look into that and ask the consultant about it.
