I did have a hysterectomy a month ago, took out everything but now I am having horrible pelvic pain. Did that happened to any of you? I was prescribed HRT gel but not taken it yet because hot flashes is not bothering me but someone told me taking HRT easy the pain. I am not sure if it is accurate information so I would love if any of you can share your experience with me.
Many Thanks

Hi, how old are you if you don’t mind me asking as hrt will prevent you getting osteoporosis if you are under 65 you should be taking it not just for menopause symptoms as you had your ovaries removed. I am 35 with osteoporosis and trust me you do not want that I’ve broken my hip and fractured all my ribs which was way worse than any endo pain. I also had a full hysterectomy everything removed due to endo and I am also getting pelvic pain but remember you are only a month in it takes a long time to heal. I had bowel endo removed in January and after my hysterectomy in April my surgeon told me the bowel end still hasn’t healed and he even had to cut through the old belly button stitches which is 4 months later so everything takes time to heal. Maybe try some paracetamol or ibuprofen if you can tolerate it.
How do take the hrt however it sounds like you were only given oestrogen as that’s what the gel is…..did your endo doctor approve that as you usually have to have progesterone with a history of endo.
Maybe speak to your doctor about the hrt as it is vital for your bones xx
I am 50 years old. I managed to have an emergency appointment with my GP and she told me the pain was due to muscle spasms. I was prescribed Co codamol.
I’m glad you got a quick appointment! Yeah sorry I didn’t mean hrt was for pain I was just worried about your bones as it’s still relevant to you at 50 as I think hrt continues till 65.
Co codamol for spasms is a new one on me most use buscopan, I have to take diazepam for muscle spasms as I was hospitalised with them however be careful with the co codamol being an opioid it can cause constipation and you don’t want that after the hysterectomy. However if it helps then that’s what matters I’m just giving you a different view based on my own experience.
If you don’t want to take the hrt please do thibk about calcium and vit D supplements for your bones as having the ovaries removed will have a big impact on bone health. They usually schedule bone dexa scans following hysterectomy with ovaries removed so make sure you mention it next time you speak to the gp just to be safe. Sorry I’ve just had a lot of fractures so I worry for everyone else as it’s not something I would want others to go through!?
