Feeling really annoyed and frustrated today after my gynaecologist appointment. I have been on prostap for 3 months, hasn’t help with the pain and caused hot flashes, weakened bladder and painful joints with swelling on my feet. I was told today nothing else can be done as if that didn’t work for pain then an hysterectomy won’t work. I have endo, PCS, fibroids and cysts. I have never had surgery other than to scrape away one fibroid which was done without any pain relief and was horrendous 🤨 I diagnosed 12 years ago and just fed up with being told all that they can offer now is pain management! I didn’t respond well to that 😞 anyone else experienced this?

Why didn’t they do excision or ablation when they found the endo or after? That would probably be a starting point for help with that one!

I know how you feel, prostap is a really rough treatment and I hated it too. After a year I gave up but managed to get them to agree to one final lap and removal 🙏🏻

Hi - so sorry to hear this how frustrating and don’t blame you for not responding well - I would have gone mad as that’s just like saying oh well you need to live with it. Absolutely not! See a different gynaecologist as there are better options out there. I have been in decapeptyl for nearly six months it’s the same as prostap to shrink a large fibroid before surgery and tbh my pain worsened on them … my bleeding was the nightmare and would be in pain when I had my period but I didn’t have pain after that. What I have been told from gynaecologist (who is very good) is that the injections don’t only shut down the hormones but they block and alter some blood supply to the uterus, therefore causing pain. He explained by saying that if you strangulate your wrist, then your hand will start to become painful. So I believe what he or she has told you has been flippant. And a hysterectomy may be your perfect solution but def discuss with someone who knows what they are talking about. I know I am not a doctor but this may be what’s been causing your pain and I would def look for a second opinion. It’s ridiculous how much we need to advocate for ourselves. Let me know how you get on and if u need a chat u can message me 💕xxx
