Investigations for endo

Hi! I’m 23 and have always believed I have endo. My symptoms started at age 17 and have got increasingly worse. Had some investigations done at that age but nothing ever came of it. My pain is now so horrific there isn’t a day without pain and recently got so bad I struggled to drive my car. I’ve spoken to my gp again and now she believes it is endo and I’m now being investigated for it. The plan is an ultrasound to rule out anything else and then laparoscopy. I’m just feeling really overwhelmed and scared about the whole thing becoming more real. Any advice about this journey would be appreciated. Thanks, Meggsie

Sounds like you've got a good GP......half the battle is getting them to listen to your symptoms to do referrals. You need it investigating if it's effecting your day to day lifeHave you tried any hormone treatments to see if it helps with symptoms?

Yes! I went in fully expecting to be ignored but she was fantastic - listened to everything I was saying and was quick to get referrals done for my ultrasound. And yes I’ve been on the combined pill and now have the implant but it’s continued to get worse regardless. It literally feels like my organs are stuck together (if that makes any sense!) really hoping I get some solid answers in the near future but it’s reassuring my GP thinks it could be endo as I know how many are ignored.

She’s also prescribed me tranexamic acid to help with my awful period pains.

Know what you mean about things feeling stuck together sometimes when I over stretch it feels like something is ripping!Very reassuring to know GP is behind you....regardless of the outcome from scan she's going to be there pushing for answers for you.

Hope tablets help with pains

take care
