I went for a smear 2 weeks ago. I'd had one due to investigations into my multiple complaints around abdominal pain, (was negative for HPV, been married and faithful to the same man for 22 years)and I've still got cervical ectroption.
Is it normal to have this for two years? The nurse didnt seem worried but there was way more blood this time. She even said I might have to be recalled due to too much blood making the test void.
Sorry for tmi this time in the morning.
Still waiting for a lap, it's been nearly 1.5 years now.
On the progesterone only pill 1 year.
Constant pain has subsided but get random bad, bad days of pains and bloating and still have really bad hormonal weeks.
Just wondering if this is similar to others peoples.🥰

I'm not a medical expert.... But as far as I'm aware ectropiums are "technically" harmless, in terms of cancer, they are the soft cells of your cervix growing on the outside of your cervix - they are more sensitive to being touched and can bleed like hell when touched either from smears or sex. I have friends you have had them from years - they take stronger painkillers and pads before there smears and i have also had friends whose have "disappeared".
One of my friends bled so bad after sex she went to A&E as she thought she was hemorrhaging, and it was an ectropium!
If its worrying you - I would ask to speak to your GP.
Its awful being in pain though - my local waitlist for a NHS lap is 24 months! I paid to go private, but they didn't find any obvious endo - so back to square one!
