Hi,

So I’m month 4 off birth control (spent 10yrs on it). The symptoms are becoming more obvious now. Currently on my period and I’m getting really bad shooting pains that feel like they are going from my vagina up into my uterus and having a pulling pain in my stomach. The shooting pains are like some one is constantly stabbing me very intense but are coming and going.

Haven’t had my normal pain in my bum. But this pain is intense comes and goes if it comes and I try walking it off it just prolongs it then when I stop moving it gets worse.

Pain killers don’t touch the pain does anyone have an advice.

I have a really low pain threshold but me and my partner want to try for kids and we know I need to be off the birth control and my hormones and periods get to a normal rhythm to have a better chance of conceiving.

What painkillers are you on? There are several different types eg, basic ones such as paracetamol, opiates, NSAIDS and nerve pain ones. Often you can take two different types in combination. Definitely go back to your GP if you are in such pain and ask for a higher dose/ something different. I use a Tens machine, that can help, as can heat pads.

Some people on here have had good results from dietary changes, if you look back at old posts.

Have you had any investigations in the past such as ultrasound, MRI scan or laparoscopy? Do you know where the endo is?

I hope you manage to find some help and good luck with your family plans x

Hi,

Pain relief is currently just co codamol but only when bad and naproxen when my back plays up normally after my period.

I only have one kidney so they have to be careful (born with one my gynaecologist found out I have ohvira syndrome).

The pain also only seems to last like a day or two then it’s gone

I used a tens machine now for my back feels like my sciatic nerve. And it works wonders

Yes I’ve had mri and a lap multiple ones but the last lap was to try see endo more clearly if they could. On mri can clearly see I have endo on the lap it was hard because my bowel has stuck to my uterus due to a previous surgery 10 yrs ago. It’s all on my right side and my bowel nothing on my left but I had a double uterus (it never formed properly when I was growing in my mums uterus).

I wonder if something for nerve pain like amitryptyline would work for the pain you are describing. Also if it is only for a short time every month a strong opiate type pain killer, that you probably wouldn’t want to take continually. I really don’t know what you can have with the kidney issue, but certainly worth pushing your GP for some alternatives/ additions to what you have. Good luck.
