Was once told it's psychological. 🫤
"Hmmm I'm wondering if it's trapped wind" 🙄🙈
“Just get pregnant” while I was 21 and in the process of a nasty divorce 😅
"Your bloods are all clear, no red flags, it's just anxiety, I'll refer you for CBT!""Just normal women's problems, get on with it!"
Download the calm app, I’m wondering how much of this is real and how much is in your head 🤬 make dr of course
After getting an emergency appointment with my consultant at BSGE centre because I was still in so much pain (a new type of pain) two months after my surgery he said "well, what do you expect, you have endometriosis, you're going to be in pain" 😑
An endometriosis specialist when I told him I was passing menstrual blood from my rectum after bowel movements…….. “maybe you’re getting confused when wiping and not just wiping your rectum”
When you are in pain try to focus on something else.
It's just IBS .
I've had three different gynaes and all three have said different things:
1. Referred to a gynae five years ago for heavy periods, was told that's just how it is and was given Tranexamic Acid - completely missed my endo and the acid ended up giving me diarrhea.
2. Second clinic - "oh you're getting married? Have a baby as soon as possible as that will cure it! I'm going to put you with an endo fertility specialist" I was not looking to get pregnant.
3. Third clinic (who took me seriously after I pushed) - "MRI shows only your ovaries stuck to your uterus, it's not too bad at all, there's no rush for lap" - irregular bleeding and lots of pain, already knew from previous lap it was stage four with bowel involvement. Same clinic, literally day after second lap surgery - "What are your family plans again? Now is the best time to get pregnant!"
🤦♀️
After waiting months for an appointment and then being refused a scan, as it 'wasn't necessary'....'Hmmm let me see, this woman presents with abdominal pain and bowl problems, you have IBS.' (After seeing another doctor who gave me a scan it turned out I had a large mass of endometriosis on my ovary, which needed an urgent operation!).
This is just anxiety causing these symptoms it turned out my ovary was twisted and stuck.
You just have IBS
Your anxiety must be flaring up
It’s part of being a woman
All blood tests are clear so it be nothing
I read all the comments here and I wanted to cry because of the inhumanity of the doctors and because they devalue the problems of patients. 😕I'm so sorry... I guess I was just lucky, after I found out that I was sick, each of the doctors tried to support me. It seems to me that without their support I would go crazy. I'm really sorry and I'd like to hug each of you. I hope in the end we can cope with this and we will get better
I was very very lucky with my GP and consultant, but family were very strange at first about the diagnosis.
Both my parents work in the healthcare system of an Eastern European country. My mum used to be an Obgyn nurse at some point in her career. But both of them have not really been up to speed with the latest info on endo.
First reactions:
Dad - oh my god they're going to take EVERYTHING out, this will ruin your life! *proceeds to panic and hyperventilate*
Mom - you must have had an abortion, otherwise you couldn't get endo. Did you get an abortion? Or wait, are you using a copper IUD? That will give you endo too
I was so frustrated. They were more terrified than me, knew less about it than me, projected their fears/judgements on me and my mom tried to find me guilty of something, because endo 'doesn't just happen'.
The second time we spoke they were much better about it. But would suggest discussions with family start with a request for them to hold back immediate reactions.
'Just hear me out, sleep on it, read about it and then we can reconvene. I am hurting already, I'm still figuring this out. I just need you to listen for now and later we can work on this together if you truly want to help'
All symptoms can be attributed to anxiety and IBS because of the covid pandemic - my symptoms started 12 years ago
