Diagnosis achieved via skilled IV ultrasound

I finally just got my Diagnosis of endometriosis- not via a laparoscopy but via a very skilled IV ultrasound. Was totally worth paying to go to a high end endo centre. The doctor was so good, he not only found it but could measure it, checked my kidneys, bowel and bladder, even talked me through it all as he was doing it. I’m just so impressed and no surgery to find all this out. If you have about £400 I suggest you do this if you can.

That is good to read. A lap is no longer the gold standard, only for superficial endo. As advances are made in imaging we are heading for non-invasive methods of diagnosis. I guess it's going to take a while though to feed through to general treatment but is all hopeful.

This sounds quite different. So was it an iv contrast dye?I've had contrast dye MRI & CT to diagnosis some elements. I'm still waiting for surgery, after asking for a second opinion, has i have had terrible experience with general nhs, and now under BSGE.

Would you mind me asking which hospital was offering this please?

It was just a normal IV ultrasound but he knew exactly what to look for and saw it immediately. I was seriously impressed. It’s the following day and he just sent me his full report along with images he took and suggestions for next steps. Didn’t try to rope me into further £££ care with him, just said feel free to forward this to your nhs gp and if you need any recommendations or advice just email me. I’ll DM you the details. R

Aaw brilliant thank you!I had a diagnosis for stage 4. I just need a second opinion to see the extent it is, has I was just given a load of jargon, which is confusing.

Hi Guineafowlach, please could you DM me this as well? I have endo which is like borderline on whether it warrant lap or not. I would love to know more about this non-invasive method, I am not keen on an explorative lap and my adhesions right now Gynea is not encouraging surgery for.
