Hi first time writing in here, I have been attending the gynaecologist for a few years now regarding irregular bleeding, painful periods (especially back and legs) and pain and bleeding during and after sex. I had a hysteroscopy which showed my cervix is stenotic and that I have old blood pooled in my womb, because I’m also bleeding from my bottom during a heavy bleed they’re now thinking it could be endometriosis of the bowel and sending me for an MRI scan next week…just wondering if anyone on here has had a similar experience or could give any advise

Possible endometriosis
Hi dhenni, I'm having similar symptoms and endometriosis is very highly suspected. I'll give you a warning that endo is a sneaky thing and likes to hide on scans, sometimes it shows up but in the vast majority of cases it doesn't. So if you get a clear MRI please don't assume you're fine. The gold standard for diagnosis is laproscopic surgery, that's the only definite way to know sadly. Hopefully after your scan your gyne will order one! If they suspect bowel endo though you should be seeing a BSGE registered endometriosis specialist, because a regular gyne wouldn't have the knowledge to deal with such a complex area, it requires usually a multidisciplinary team with different specialists. You can check the BSGE register and see if your doc is on there, if not it may be an idea to ask your local GP for a referral to one xxx
