Hi all,

just in two minds whether to have a coil fitted in.

Can you tell me where you had yours done I.e sexual health clinic within the hospital or just a local gp/clinic.

my specialist recommended to get it within the hospital as the nurses are better at inserting.

I’ve had coils all my adult life, the nurses at sexual health have always been excellent with me, got mine removed 2 months ago and very minimal pain xx

Did the coil help with your endo growing back? I had my endo removed in 2019 and 2021 started getting the same symptoms so now they are telling me coil is the only way to stop the endo from retuning. but I don't think I want that at all. The whole idea of something being put in me frightens me.

To be honest lovely I’ve not had a lap yet only scans that show fibroids, ive always had the copper coil as the mirena increased my migraines xx

Oh, I was told the mireno coil will help stop my migraines as I was only the noriday pill which was giving me severe migraine episodes, and also made me breakout in hormone acne spots. I'm not sure if I should go for it or not. I have gone back to taking one pill instead of 2 pill and that has improved on my migraine and acne. x

The nurses would probably be better as have more practice through sheer volume of fittings. I have had 3 fitted and three removed from 2006-2021. It it uncomfortable for 5 minutes and I had it fitted a couple of days before my wedding! So yeah….no problems. I don’t remember much about the first but it all settled down quite quickly. No messing around with contraception was heaven 👍🏻

It gave me so much life because no period and no pain!!

Thank you, I am also getting this to save my eggs and not get a period. The waiting time is quite long, I have it booked in Feb 22.

I had the mirena coil after being diagnosed with endo. The fitting was so painful for me and I was in agony for a week after the fitting. Had to take sick leave from work. After 5 months I had to get the coil replaced as it went down due to exercise. So I got another one fitted in 2 weeks ago and I’m getting cramps.

I got the coil fitted in both times at a sexual health clinic.

But for me the problem I have is I can’t really do exercise to keep the coil in place when I normally go to the gym 5-6 times week. I’m a bit stuck but the coil hasn’t reduced my cramps that much from pre coil life.

Thank you for your reply.

I am endo free since 2019 had surgery to remove it. Since then have not had endo pain like before since. however I get the flare up now and then which I manage without going in hospital.

but my recent mri indicated that I am nor Europe to get endo again if I don't take anything to stop the flare up or the bleeding as I was bleeding and spotting in between the pill. the pill tbh has helped, but made my migraines worse and also gave me acne spots. I'm more frightened of having something fitted down there as I wasn't so good in even doing a smear test.

With cramps my body cannot tolerate pain and I normally pass out so I'm trying to decide whether it is worth getting it done.

Have you hadany surgery to remove the endo.
