Hi everyone, I was just wondering what to expect if that's not a silly question.

It's my first Laparoscopy, hopefully to get a diagnosis and remove anything if need be.

I'm getting a little nervous now, but I've been struggled since I was 8, now 35.

Any info/advice most welcome.

Thank you xx

Hey! I got my first laparoscopy on the 7th January! I was feeling a little nervous but I ended up doing a lot of research and watching a walk through of a laparoscopy surgery of each stages of endo so I know what to sort of expect! It made me feel more at ease now and just can’t wait for it to happen! I also made a list of things I will need to take with me just incase! Some of them are peppermint tea, pillows, pads etc etc… just also make sure you ask for photos too! Also while your waiting before your surgery bring a book or something to do while you wait because it could be a long time before surgery ! X

I just had mine this past Monday. I could be up and moving around right now if I wanted but it isn’t safe with incisional healing. If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me. I’ll tell you how mine went.

Mine was scheduled for 330 PM. Last case of the day. I had been without solids since 12 PM the day before. Make sure to load up on broth and jello. When I got there, they gave me disposable underoos and put squeezy massager things on my legs to prevent clots. Talked to surgeon, nurses and anesthesia. They started an IV and gave me some versed then off I went to the OR.

Woke up in recovery after 2.5 hr surgery. Had left saloingo-oopherectomy and endo excision. Took me about 3 hrs to recover from anesthesia so I could home around 9 PM. I brought period underwear with me to change into. No pads needed. I was nauseous after anesthesia so ask for extra nausea meds if you need them before you leave. Take a pillow to put under the seatbelt for the ride home. I slept through the night.

I feel great. I was so worried and scared of surgery and I’m a physician. I knew what I was in for and still was a bit anxious. As time went on and months rolled by while I was waiting for my surgery on 12/20 (scheduled in October), my back and pelvic pain got worse.

They found a huge cystic ovary and deep infiltrating endometriosis. I am so so so glad I did this and have no regrets at all. Recovery has been a breeze. Pain is controlled with Tylenol and Aleve and I have systemic lupus so that’s a pretty good result. I’m ready to cook dinner tonight but my husband says no because the pan is too heavy.

Sending hugs. ❤️

Hiii! Firstly, great news you're having your laparoscopy. I had my first laparoscopy on the 11th December, and I was so so nervous but it really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The waiting is the worst part but once you go down to theatre you're asleep and before you know it you're waking up. When I woke up I felt great (obviously a bit high on the drugs) and then an hour or so later it kind of hit me that I wasn't feeling so great, so just be wary of that. The double edged sword was they found nothing for mine, so disappointing because my consultant said there's nothing wrong with me but also good that I don't have endometriosis, so probably just be prepared that you may not get answers you want from it. Peppermint tea or ginger tea really helped me get rid of the air that was in me, because they blow you up with CO2 you might get some pain in your shoulders and chest. It was weird and I kept gurgling and things haha but the teas really helped. I also felt quite sick afterwards but it was definitely more because I hadn't eaten anything since the night before, so when you feel ready get something to eat afterwards. Definitely take some pads just incase and have a pillow for travelling home in the car to put between you and the seat belt. Recovery was fine for me, but they didn't actually need to do anything inside, I was just quite sore for a few days afterwards but just rest up and don't over do it. Even when you feel better and like you can move around just go easy as you'll still have stitches that you don't want to split. But lastly, GOOD LUCK! Sending you lots of good vibes, I hope that you get the answers you want and hope you have a speedy recovery. It's easier said than done but try not to stress about it, it's a positive movement forwards and you'll feel better when you know whats going on! Xxx

Ahhh thank you sooo much love, sorry I've only just seen this. Ah I am sorry hear nothing was found, it's good and bad isn't it. I'll be honest I'm worried about that for me.

Your message was soo lovely.

Thank you. Don't give up the fight, I fail to believe there is nothing. Xxx
