Hi Rebecca, I have not experienced this myself, but I wouldn't worry too much.

It could just be that removing the coil caused a little bit of bleeding that might not happen at once (it's pretty cramped inside the uterus, so there can be some abrasion to the walls and entrance of the uterus as the coil is pulled out). It may also depend on your age: I had a teeny bit of immediate bleeding from the actual removal, and I was way, way post-menopausal.

Also, if you are younger and would still normally be having periods it may take your body some time to settle back into a monthly routine and there may be unexpected (and often smaller) periods before the body's cycle gets back to normal.

If anything really worrying happens, go to see your GP, but to put your mind at rest, why not contact one of the advisors/moderators at ENDO UK (see details and lists to the right of the screen: eg: email Dee, Anna or Liv) and they can advise you.

Hope this helps, take care.

I'm 28. I had my coil removed mid September and had my first period at the end of october and if i have normal period i would have been due on my second period last week but thats not happened. The days before and after i had cramps, nausea and dizzy spells but now i feel fine. I was wanting to call my doctor but having gone through calling them previously over missed period i got told to wait until my 3rd missed period. I'm just worried that i won't have a regular periods when I'm trying for a baby. Its just horrible and takes me back to before when not knowing what was wrong with me and getting me anxious🙈

I had terribly heavy withdrawal bleeding and a migraine after removal. I don't remember missing a month but I'd never stopped bleeding on it and didn't cope with it for long. I remember my GP saying it would take about 3 mths for my cycle to settle again and I'm pretty sure she was right on the timescale.

You could always contact your GP for reassurance :)
