Decisions!!! Hysterectomy!!!

I last wrote here about two years ago before and after I had a laparotomy and removal of endo. This was the second ablasion I had had in 8 years. The relief lasted about nine months before I started noticing symptoms again. At the beginning of 2021 I started noticing changes in bowel habit and pain when I needed to go to the loo all got much worse round the totm. I also started getting a tugging/twisting feeling which was so very painful to the point it would stop me sleeping comfortably or would stop me in my tracks while I was moving around and no over the counter pain relief would work for the pain. I have been liasing with my gp and he did several tests to check bowels all which came back OK. My gp decided to refer me back to Gynae. I was very surprised after being told it would be a six month wait, when I recieved an appointment within to weeks. Yesterday I saw my gynae it was a very brief meeting and he basically said given my age (45) I would benefit from having a hysterectomy with removal of the ovaries and womb. I've been expecting this but I'm still having doubts over the operation. It's a big decision to make and I just need some reassurance I suppose from people who have had the op and felt better after. I hear stories of problems occurring after surgery with bowels and bladder which is making me a little anxious.

Hiya! I'd ask your gyne why he thinks you'd benefit from a hysterectomy - I'm not against a hysterectomy (mine is scheduled for just over 8 weeks time!) but it's not a cure for endo so isn't the 'easy' option! I'm only having mine as it's the only real option for adenomyosis!

Especially as you seem unsure, I'd defo be asking more questions before making a decision either way! Good luck ❤️❤️

If you do decide to have a hysterectomy make sure they will do it properly and have as multi disciplinary so a colorectal surgeon will be there.I made a mistake in trusting the gynae when he told me there would be one and there wasn’t. Afterwards, I’d got copy of my medical records, I asked about Endo on the bowel. He said, I don’t know I’m not a bowel surgeon. So now I’m at a different hospital waiting for an op as bowel symptoms are still the same. I’ve also reported him to the GMC for not telling me there hadn’t been an MDT meeting before op, which is what the wait was about. I wasn’t given the knowledge and opportunity to make an informed choice.

Sorry long winded, get everything written down in triplicate 😂🤦‍♀️
