Struggling to work

I’ve always worked since leaving school, I hate not being able to work but my condition is literally effecting me so much, I only had this job a year and they made me feel so uncomfortable because of all the time off I had due to being in pain or not able to move said I was unreliable that I had no choice but to leave, now I’m scared to find a new one just in case it happens again I’m still in recovery anyway. But it’s really put me down so much and I hate relying on government and my partner to help 💔💔💔💔

I’m sorry, that sounds really rubbish :( I take it it’s a job you can’t do from home? I think if you can, employers are required to allow for that as a reasonable adjustment. I have a casual arrangement with mine

I know how you feel, it's frustrating and you feel a burden on people. But you need to recover I returned to university after having my children, they burned my womb in the second year to ease the heavy bleeding, thinking it would help whilst I waited for surgery which I'm still on the list due to corona, I suffered black outs in lectures from the pain I kept pushing myself, I couldn't get myself to uni due to the pain relying on my partner and my mum as my legs where going from under me so walked with a stick. I finished uni 2020 from home I joined an agency to work as a teaching assistant I worked 2 days and I ended up being taken into hospital with another condition I now have functional neurological disorder which causes fits this isn't related to endo but the stress of pushing myself through a uni course, being a mum, a wife, running a home, the corona virus and trying to get a job and other stresses pushed me into being more ill and disabled. Be kind to yourself we've been through a pandemic, you know you're pain and need to recover, if uou go back to work go part time, speak to your gp to see if there is anything they can do to help or work from home then you can set your own hours. Try to think how if a friend told you all that you've been through how would they react.I hope you feel better soon and take care of yourself 😉

I'm right there with you lovely. I lost my job due to Covid in August 2020, but with ongoing treatments for endo I haven't been able to go back. It's so hard I know, I'm not work shy at all and I often feel like a burden on the government and my family.

BUT just remember that as you say you're still in recovery and you've got to give your body time to heal. This is likely only temporary, it might feel like forever but it's not! And you've worked so far, the money you're claiming from the government is yours anyway because you've paid national insurance. You earned it and now you're claiming it back when you need it. No one deserves it more than you. xx

I feel for you. What you describe is exactly why I went self employed. If I don't work I don't get paid and there is nobody making me feel guilty about it. I changed my job to fit in with the lifestyle I need to best live with the pain. Surprisingly it's a physical outdoors job that suits me best. Movement and not sitting in an office is what I needed. Might be time to think outside the box a bit. Something that's more flexible maybe. Hope you find something that works for you.
