Fed up/ angry 😡

So had my post op appointment today with my surgeon , who carried out my laparoscopy 3 months ago.. I tried to ask questions.. like why is my pain worse now than it was prior my op? .. his response was 'well I removed the Endo so you shouldn't be in pain' ..

I then went on to express that I have to take pain killers all day every day including codeine.. which I don't like as it makes me drowsy.. to which his response was ' we can try you with morphine'

'you have 3 options.. you can start using the marina coil, have an ultrasound or another laparoscopy' ..

He then told me I can think about it..

As you can all imagine.. I am so frustrated & angry.. non of my questions was actually answered.. & I don't want to have an opiate addiction.. nor do I want more invasive surgery.. I'm already on the mini pill.. I don't want to put a foreign object in my body that may make my pain worse..

How about.. 'we can refer you to a pain team' or 'some physio therapy may help' or even 'you can try non-opiate meds' .. that would of been better choices..

I'm sick and tired of just having pain killers thrown at my face like that's the only answer..

There needs to be more done! Something needs to change! 💪

In all fairness he isn't going to know why you are still in pain as there can be many reasons and an expert ultrasound would be the next best step. Does it say on the discharge note where endo was found and what was done?

Hi!

If you are still having pain then I would defo take the further investigations that he has suggested - the ultrasound and, possibly, the lap. If the ultrasound doesnt show anything helpful then there will likely be further investigation (such as an mri) but a lap would be the best way to identify if there is any further endo that needed removing.

Also, I know you seem against it, but I have the coil and would recommend it (although I appreciate that it doesn't work for everyone, it's been a godsend so certainly worth your own research before discounting the idea completely!)

Good luck with your next steps xx

I can understand why you are upset and angry at not being listened to. Re pain relief. There is lots your GP can prescribe without you having it go back to the gynae. It would be worth talking to them especially as the codeine is making you drowsy. Your GP can also refer you to a Chronic Pain clinic I would think.

Tbh I would take the ultrasound at least, but as you probably know it does not show up most endo.
