Should I still have pain after being on decapeptyl?

Hey all..

I had the decapeptyl injection at the start of August.. was told this would stop most the Endo pain (due to stopping ovaries working) however I've actually had pain every day! In my right side below my ribs.. round my back and also lower pelvic Pain.

Has anyone else had this? I have severe Endo which had caused a frozen pelvis.. in my bowel etc.. and it destroyed my appendix.

Just fed up as my Dr just keeps saying call again if it gets worse and doesn't seem to care.

Medical treatment isn't really effective for severe endo. Presumably you are at a specialist endo centre?

Yeah my local hospital is a specialist centre. They did say most women find their pain goes away. I must be one of the unlucky ones ☹️

Unfortunately there isn't really a reason why the pain would go away as severe endo is fibrosis and this isn't governed by hormones. Also the endo itself produces its own oestrogen that doesn't involve the ovaries and these injections only shut down the ovaries. Period related symptoms can be helped though. You can only take the injections for 6 months anyway. I assume this is while you wait for excision.

Ah okay I see ☹️ some reason I thought if they switched off my ovaries then it would take all pain away. Yeah I'm waiting for surgery for my frozen pelvis, but also been referred to oncology as my pathology results were unclear. They want to make sure there isn't anything else going on. All very worrying. X

Is this your 1st injection ? I had same problem when I started the injections but finally started seeing results when I took the 2nd one. I’m due my third one today and I can say the pain is almost not there any more …so I’d say it take a bit of time for the effect to really kick in.

Good luck

I had 1 injection which last for 12 weeks rather then the monthly ones. Had it in August and the period type pain has gone but I have pain in my right side below my ribs and round my back which I didn't have before. Not sure if its even related to the Endo. X

Hi, Sorry you are still suffering with pain, i hope it does ease off for you, and your not getting so many other syptoms with this injections as it can be quite brutal for our bodies!

i had one monthly for 3 months of these same injections and after my 2nd i didnt have any pain or bleeding untill a about 6 weeks of stopping them all together.

hope that gives you some sort of info that may be able to help!

Hey, I had one Injection which is 3 months worth in one go. In nearly 2 months in now.. it's taken away the period type pain but I have really bad pain in my right side. Not sure if it's Endo related or something else. Trying to speak to my endo nurse but not getting anywhere. Only other side effects have been the hot flushes which are crazy! Oh and the major anxiety! X
