I feel like this might be a stupid question but I know this is a place I can ask! I had a merina coil inserted when I had my lap (and was diagnosed with endo and adeno). It's three months in now and my period has all but stopped. I knew the merina coil could reduce but is that a good thing to happen? I should say for me my pain wasn't bad during my period but is really bad during and after ovulation/mid cycle.
I *think* I should be happy and it's a good sign? But I'm not sure! The consultant didn't really tell me much of what to expect, or even whay the coil actually does. He did say it's 50/50 s to whether it works for endo/adeno so maybe that's why!

Hi BikeRiderGirlYes for many people the merina coil reduces or stops their periods so don't worry. I'm glad it's working as it should periodwise for you and hope it'll reduce the mid cycle pain too. It can take up to six months to work.
Sadly I'm in the other category where it increases bleeding to unmanageable proportions.
Keep a note of your symptoms and if it isn't helping the pain after 6 months discuss with your gynaecologist.
Hey hun! I had my first lap in August and currently on my second period. The first lasted 17 days but was on and off and not very heavy. This one has started 6 days late but very watery and no real pain. Give it time to settle as they say. Hope the pain eases if not talk to them around the 6 month timeline.
Don’t worry. I had a bad bleed soon after the op and then stopped. On my second coil now with no periods for years. I hope it works as well for you as it has for me.
