When a flare is on the way....

Hi all! I'm fairly newly diagnosed but with keeping a diary of symptoms I'm starting to be able to clock when a flare is round the corner. I get deep lower back pain which sometimes extends down my leg. It's not pain that stops me functioning but it seems to be the warning of worse to come. It's good in a way as I guess I can now prepare myself for the next few days but it is also very "oh, here we go" creeping dread! Anyone else get this "feeling it's on the way" feeling?

I know now that pre-emptively taking anti-inflammatories can sometimes help take the edge off but also be interested if there is anything else folk do when they feel a flare is coming?

I get exactly the same, but sometimes don't believe that it's endo and think I've strained my back or something. I think I need to be more in tune with my body and start being pre-emptive as you say.

Keeping a diary helped! Having said that, sometimes I do just have a bit of a sore back from sitting at my desk loads and the panic I'm going to get really bad again and...it's just a regular sore back 🤦‍♀️

I definitely get warning signs. It starts with lower back ache and a throbbing/numbness in my left leg and I can’t sleep because my leg is so uncomfortable and then within 2 days of that I’m on my period and in agony with the endo pain and excessive blood loss. I just make sure I start regular pain relief and anti inflammatory medications to make sure they are in my system as soon as my leg starts. I also start hot baths and heat packs and cancel any plans I’ve made because I know there’s no chance of me making it out anywhere for a week.

I’ve just had a prostap injection so I’m hopeful this will all settle down now. I hope you get the treatment you need but you’re definitely right that you’re In tune with your body and can spot the warning signs.

Xx

Thanks. I had a lap, some excision and a merina coil inserted just over two months ago so keeping an eye on of it improves. So far the normal five days of pain is more like two so, will take that! Hope the injection works for you x
