I was only called on Tuesday so see if I could have the surgery and went to hospital yesterday for a covid test, so it all seems very rushed and the receptionist have not been very helpful in giving me any information.
They told me they will send me out a letter but that I would not receive it in time and they haven't really gave me much info about what I should or shouldn't do, besides not eat from 12pm the night before, so if possible I'd love a bit of advice, what to take to hospital with me, any questions I should ask, or just general advice please.
I'm worried they may not find anything and while that may be a good thing, I'm worried it's going to take me right back to square one. I don't suffer with bad period pain and my main symptom is really painful intercourse and fertility issues. I have read online that if you do have endo and this is your main symptom it can be located at the back of your vagina and uterus. will I get chance to speak with the surgeon before the surgery to ensure he will be checking this area during the lap? As I'm worried if I do have it and he does not check there it might get missed.
I have been trying to conceive for over 18 months, so they are also putting dye into my ovaries to check my fallopian tubes aren't blocked while in under anaesthetic. Has anyone else had this and if so what should I expect?
thanks

hi hun how's u doing? I know its just been dumped on u but try not to worry too much about your surgery, I've had 4 laparoscopy surgery's but it wasn't until the 2nd laparoscopy that I was diagnosed with endometriosis.as far as what to take, I would say pack a couple of days worth of clothes (incase u need an extra day recovery), also pack sanitary pads bleeding after is normal, something to entertain yaself. 😊 any jewellery that's important to you I would leave at home, wearing a wedding band is allowed but they will tape it 😂.
along with letting the surgeon know about checking certain area's, if you have any questions then write them down, it's also a good idea to write down all your symptoms and medications, I really hope u have a good surgeon who will actually listen to you, along with not eating after midnight they usually allow u to have water till 8am (sometimes 9am depending on your surgery time). I was told by the surgeon that I will neva be able to have children but I have 3 beautiful children so there is always a chance 😉 😊 hope you get ur issues sorted soon, let us know how you get on xxxx
I don't think my surgeon is a endo specialist. It is in Liverpool and when I've looked on the BSGE website they don't have any there, which is annoying, but I'm hoping he/she will be good.
thanks for the tips, I will definitely write a few things down and give them to the nurse/surgeon before the surgery and hopefully they will look everywhere they need to.
ahh really, that's positive to know you've had children. I'm hoping the dye test will rule out any issues with my tubes and I'll keep you updated.
