I recently had my mri results from my consultant. I had mentioned prior to the results I wanted any cysts and endo removed to give me a better chance of conceiving. (I've had several ops for removal already) consultant tells me just to have ivf treatment again as more ops on ovaries will affect their function and reduce my chances of conceiving. Prior to this he told me the op would increase my chances. I'm a little confused by this. Anyone been told similar?

Hi I have also been told the more ops you have it does affect their function and reduce chances. I have only had one op I do need another one but my gyno said try for a baby if I don’t get pregnant after 4 months to go for an op. I think as you have had several already the consultant is probably advising ivf instead x
I've no idea where this will leave me. He offered me GnRH analogue but I've refused. Been on it too manytimes and I hate the side effects, I become a monster and its not fair on my partner. I'm sick of shoving all these hormones into my body. Also been told to loose weight as my bmi is 32.8 I'm a size 16 but I'm Tallish at 5.6 and a bit. Its made me feel fat he said I'd need to loose 16lb. Strange as I was about the same size when I was having ivf the last time.
So he’s basically saying just go ahead with the IVF again? I completely understand all those hormones are not good either and just messes with us. Maybe it might worth getting a second opinion with another gyno, he doesn’t seem very sympathetic especially making you feel like your too big that’s the last thing you need going through all of this
My experience is that after one op to remove cysts from my ovaries that my ovary function was greatly reduced already. I was told they remove the cysts then ‘stick’ as it were the ovaries back together. This can damage the ovaries and reduce egg supply. I had ivf afterwards for many years without success. I was under the impression that they would perform ivf if there are cysts on your ovaries, I was told it made egg retrieval during ivf too tricky but I guess this may differ from clinic to clinic. So I recognize the advice, one op can help initially get function back but more op’s can potentially damage the ovaries too much.
I wish you all the luck in the world and that things work out for you as you hope them too. Best wishes!
