I am 34 and suffered lower abdominal pain since 2016. I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst (5-6cm) in 2016, laparoscopy in 2017 showed no endo and Dr stated IBS. I had another cyst (5cm) in 2018 and another in 2019. I now have a 4cm cyst (May 2021), which was diagnosed after I presented at A&E with pain levels that I could not manage with Paracetamol/Naproxen/Tramadol. I saw 2 Gynae drs whilst in hospital (May 2021), each independently stating they suspected endo and would like to do another laparoscopy. I have now been on sick leave for 5 weeks as the pain is every day (and is worst when I ovulate). I had an implant inserted into my arm as a teenager and had it renewed until May 2018 when I came off of contraception altogether. My pain levels and the frequency have been worse in the last 12mnths.
The main pain is lower (centre) abdomen along my knicker line and often slightly to the left of that. It’s a heavy, dull ache and is tender to touch. I also experience pain when my bladder is full and urgency to pee. I experience lower back ache a lot, occasionally get what feels like sciatic pain and a shooting pain in my rectum when I sit down which causes me to shoot back up. I experience a lot of indigestion (related?) and defo have IBS as can identify triggers. I often feel nauseous. I have been trying to conceive since May 2018.

Omg I don’t know what to say. You’re BRAVE. I have 3cm cyst. They have incidentally found when I had my MRI of my spine this week as I had chronic back pain since July 2020. Seen a gynaecologist yesterday and my option is to be on pills and pain medications. No option of surgery though. I have terrible pain on my right buttocks thighs leg and heels, private area numb with pins in 30-60seconds, sudden sharp pain on my right and left side. I really don’t know if I need surgery for this. Do you have any ideas?
Hello. Thanks for your reply. I’m sorry you’re suffering pain, it can be such a debilitating and lonely experience. From what I’ve been advised , cysts up to 3cm are experienced by a lot of women every month and are simply part of ovulation, however once they get to 5cm they’re classed as a ‘large cyst’ and that’s when they start ‘watchful waiting’……in my experience, the cyst usually bursts, the pain is excruciating, and a couple of weeks later I’m pain free. That has been in the past tho, when I didn’t really have any (suspected) endo pain. I remember feeling very frustrated that they repeatedly advised that the cyst shouldn’t be causing pain (so it’s all in my head?!) and refused to remove it. However, the reasoning for not removing was stated as “even if we just leave one cell it will immediately grow back”…which sort of made sense. I really hope you get sorted soon xx
hi hun how's u doing? I'm sorry to hear that ur suffering. 🙁 I've been diagnosed with endometriosis since 05 but have had issues with my periods since 13, from what you've said and my own painful experience, it sounds exactly like endometriosis. look at my profile and see if ur symptoms match up? dependent on how lazy ur surgeon was, thing's can and do often get missed. don't let them convince you that it's all in ur head (they are good at that) 😂 be strong and keep on them! I hope you get the help u need but if you want to chat plz give me a shout xxxx
Hello. Thanks for your reply, sounds like you've had a hell of a ride. I’m feeling really low at the moment. I just want my body and my freedom back. I can’t drive, I can barely walk and my partner works shifts so I’m often alone. I have a consultation with gynae in July and can’t decide whether I hope the plan is still a lap and they find endo or whether I don’t ‘want’ to have endo. I just want an end to the pain but I’m given to understand that a diagnosis of endo will not mean an end to the pain….but the just the start of another journey. I want to get back to work and start enjoying going out and about again ❤️ x
I understand that, I would love to go back to work and drive comfortably for longer than an hour 😂 hell I'd settle for making a bru without scalding myself due to pain causing shakes. I wish I could tell you that u will have no further pain once diagnosed but I will not lie to you, its a daily routine of good days n bad, hope you find what you need xx
