Hi, I am hoping to understand more about Adhesiolysis.
I was originally diagnosed with Endo in 2016 but only a small amount from what I gather and during a lap they carried out Adhesiolysis.
Fast forward to 2021 and I am now absolutely riddled with Endo. Its escalated quite severely and questions are now being asked by my new consultant around how this happened. I have the same questions to...
I can't seem to gather too much info on Adhesiolysis and I can't ascertain if its the same or different to excision surgery. Iv read one web page that mentions how Adhesiolysis can cause the endo to come back as it leaves an open wound that then grows scar tissue which then escalates over time.
Could this method used back in 2016 have caused it to continue to get worse?!
Any experiences you have please do let me know! My chances of conceiving naturally again are looking unlikely and the endo is now attacking none gynaecology areas so I am angry, frustrated and struggling to come to terms with the situation I am in.
Thank you!!

My understanding of adhesiolysis is the excision of scar tissue. Did you have excision surgery in 2016? Adhesiolysis is always put on your treatment for excision surgery as it’s part of the clinical coding it comes under. You might not have had any adhesions so it wasn’t performed. You could obtain your hospital records to see what is written from your surgery?
I’m sorry you’ve had so much regrowth in a short amount of time.
I didnt realise Adhesiolysis was the term used for excision so that is useful to know.
My discharge summary does state Adhesiolysis. I think I am searching for answers and something to be held accountable when in reality it is likely just the nature of the beast (endo).
Hello. Unfortunately with endometriosis, there are many more questions than answers. Did you take any hormonal treatment from your first surgery in 2016 until now? We do not know the cause of endometriosis. We do not know whether or not suppressing periods with birth control helps but most doctors prefer to suppress periods to put all of the chances on your side. Regarding adhesions, they can cause similar pain and symptoms to endometriosis. They cause the tugging pulling feeling. Anyways, what is done is done. I hope that you find an appropriate treatment path. Xoxo
