Hi
If you feel like your doctor isn’t listening to you what can I do?
Change your doctor. It can easily be done.
Change Dr's.Research and take in a pain diary.
Reiterate how it's affecting you and your life.
If you're sure it's Endo, ask to be referred to a specialist so you miss out the middle man.
I asked to be referred out of area as my Dr's weren't concerned about the pain and told me it's something as a woman I have to deal with.
After I'd seen the specialist and had tests etc done I emailed and reiterated the fact that I'm a human being and not a number nor a statistic, how the pain was affecting my life and mental health as well as suppressing my ability to be a good mum to my two young children.
It takes an average of around 8 years to be diagnosed, it took me 20 active months from the first day I mentioned to the Dr's the pain I'm experiencing isn't normal.
This has all been during covid too so I would not allow them to use that as an excuse for a slow time to help, nor would I allow yourself to be messed about!
I had my laparoscopy nearly 3 weeks ago now where they found and excised endometriosis.
Hope that helps.
Completely agree with the pain diary - it will show any doctor that you are taking your pain seriously and so should they. Can you ask for an ultrasound or even more so, a Transvaginal Ultrasound - that can help.
Keep searching until you find a doctor who has knowledge on endometriosis. xx
Change doctors , I honestly over 7.5 years saw about 20 different drs until someone took me seriously, please keep going back demand to be referred don’t take no for an answer! I hope you get somewhere soon xxx
I saw a consultant nurse she listened.
