Recovering from surgery - audio books?

Hi,

Has anyone tried listening to audio books while recovering from surgery?

I like reading, but not sure I would have the attention while resting after surgery. Normally, I find audio books somewhat annoying, but maybe they would be good in this case.

What do you think?

Hi June! I listen to the occasional audiobook. Like you I like to read my books, however; I have been listening to audiobooks while out walking. I have found that I do enjoy them. I think you should give it a go. :)

I love audio books - if you subscribe to Audiobooks (£7 or so a month) you get a credit each month, meaning you can buy an audiobook worth much more for that credit. The books I get are ridiculously long - 12 to 30 hours, and I end up listening while cooking, doing other boring house chores, chilling, having a bath, going on walks, etc. You can also download free podcasts from apps like BBC Sounds. There’s loads out there.

If you're unsure I would have a go with a few podcasts and see if you enjoy those first, that way you don't have to spend any money :) or get yourself an audible trial? I personally can't listen to books, I find it hard to stay engaged. But I can imagine it would be hard to sit and read when you're on all that pain relief! Xxx

I tried French and couldn't absorb it like I did German :D though German has really awkward grammar lol learning languages is fun isn't it :) using Duolingo takes my mind off stuff sometimes xxx
