Hello Ladies, just after some advice and knowledge on others experience with endometriosis growing back after ablation surgery.
I’m really concerned that my endometriosis has grown back since my operation in September 2020. All my symptoms which I was suffering with before are coming back with the same intensity. I’ve seen my surgeon again who think it’s unlikely for endometriosis to of grown back after 7 months, especially as I have to Merina coil however I’m not convinced.
If anybody has had ablation surgery and the coil, how long was it before you started experiencing symptoms again or needed another laparoscopy?
Feeling very anxious, sad and just angry at my body for being in constant pain

Hi, I’m sorry to hear you’re in pain so soon after your surgery.
My close friend had ablation surgery in November and she’s now having more pain than to start with! She found a BSGE centre and Endo specialist and they now want to perform excision surgery and have told her Endo can grow back after ablation unfortunately and excision surgery is the gold standard treatment.
What Amyrose says is true regarding ablation vs excision. I'm so sorry to hear that all your pains are coming back so soon. General gynaecology isn't the most experienced in endo, regardless of what they say.
I think you're well within your rights to ask your GP to refer you to a BSGE specialist. Please check out this website & find someone local to you then ask your GP to refer you.
I'm currently waiting for my first laparoscopy - which is with a non-specialist, regular gynaecologist, that I won't know the name of until nearer the time... Possibly even the day. I have several conditions that I'd like them to meet & will be taking highlighted website articles etc with me (I'm sure they'll love me). I want this lap to be purely diagnostic & then be referred to a specialist. I will ask them to check various locations & take pictures (kidneys, bowels, diaphragm, pouch of Douglas etc). I don't want them to remove anything themselves. But... I'm at the mercy of the doctor, so who knows what will happen 💁🏻♀️
Thank-you for your lovely reply, I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to reply! Have you had much luck with your laparoscopy yet? Sending you lots of love!xx
