Hi I have a mirena in for my endo as well as the pill but unfortunately I’m still spotting after six months and I was just wondering whether that was okay?

Should I still be bleeding with my mirena?
I had mine put in during a laparoscopy 5 months ago and I’m having light bleeding every two weeks or so. Seems to be around ovulation and period time. The bleeding is much lighter than before but still painful. I’m really hoping it’ll die down as I’m also suffering from an incisional hernia from the laparoscopy which is also causing pain. Some days leave me wondering if I would have been better of just leaving everything alone 🙁.
Hi Arwen, I have the Mirena & mini pill too. I've only had mine for one cycle do far, but read about what to expect...
The Mirena summary says that about 20 percent of women stop having their periods by the end of the first year. Over time, this increases (takes time for body to fully adjust, I suppose).
For the mini pill, they say it usually takes 3 to 4 months to adjust, and spotting is common.
So, it's not surprising that there might still be spotting after 6 months. However, if it doesn't feel right, always a good idea to check with GP about options.
Hi there. I was told when my mirena was fitted that I could take the pill still to stop the spotting/light bleeding. And that taking the pill back to back was ok. I think I managed just over a year before I asked to have the coil removed as I was already taking the pill back to back so seemed redundant having both for little relief the coil brought.
