Hi, I'm new on this community, wondering if anyone can give me some advise please? To all those that have had a colonoscopy, what happens during your examination? Any pain? I've got one on Friday & I'm scared stiff! Did you have a ct scan as well? My anxiety is very high atm due to going for this, Thankyou for any advice or tips.....

Ct scan & colonoscopy....
Hi. I’ve had both and a MRI.
I found the prep day ahead of the colonoscopy hard. It was so much liquid to drink and I’m not a fan of medical solutions! I would recommend sticking to the suggested diet for the days before the procedure and trying hard to drink as much of the prep as you can. If the bowel isn’t clear they can’t do it and you need to do the prep all over again.
The actual colonoscopy was ok. The staff were lovely and helped put me at ease. I asked for the sedation - your not asleep but it does relax you. It was not painful just a little uncomfortable for me and over pretty quickly. You get the results on the day as well.
Best advice is try not to overthink it which isn’t easy! They want to rule out things so you get the right treatment.
I’m not a fan of getting a cannula but was told by a nurse to keep warm - gloves on and hot water bottle as apparently helps veins. It seems to work but perhaps the nurses skills have also been good on the days I’ve followed the advice.
Take a dressing gown with you as you can wear that over the hospital gown and it helped me feel more comfortable as well as slippers.
Hope this helps but I’m sure you’ll be fine.
