I'm new here but glad to see so many others who have struggled with the same things I have.
A bit of context, I am 26 and have had endo for about 18 months now -- It was really really horrible initially but I have the Kyleena coil now which has helped.
The NHS have offered to wait list me for a Laparoscopy, but wanted to get the opinion of those who have had it done (since recovery seems very long and ardous).
My cysts does not affect my daily life too much, but I have had a few transvaginal ultrasounds over the last year and they are growing consistently. Is it better to get ahead of them and remove it before it inevitably becomes a real issues, or wait until that happens?
Also keen to hear private vs NHS opinions.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi, I had endo diagnosed & removed (privately) within a fortnight, just a couple of weeks ago, so am maybe not as qualified to advise as some others.
I have been trying to conceive for 6.5 years & my endo diagnosis emerged after years of trying anything else available to get pregnant. Like your cysts, endo wasn’t affecting my life hugely, but I’ve since read about the impact endo can have on fertility. I am hopeful I may now conceive after years of trying everything bloody else!
I would personally choose to have the cysts removed if they’re too big for a chance at getting re-absorbed by the body. The worst pain I have ever experienced was when one ruptured - I wouldn’t wish it on anyone!
If I could’ve dealt with my Endo before it become complicated, I would’ve done!
Mine did impact my life, a lot, looking back! But no one ever connected my problems to figure out the disease, until one night I woke up in bed and I’d thought I’d pee’d myself, but actually I just had huge amounts of fluid falling out my vagina, then I did start peeing myself, then I was poo’ing snot and blood! I was subsequently diagnosed as non-sti PID which took 6 months of antibiotics to clear, then a lap diagnosed stage 4 DIE endometriosis! I had to have major surgery to fix the damage!
Fast forward 4 years, and again, non cyclic pain, couldn’t walk, constipation/impactions, no one connected it, until I ended up with sepsis, from again, non STI PID! My ovary had abscessed! It is stuck to my bowel and needs to be removed, and I may end up with a colostomy!
All this may not happen to you, but is it worth taking a wait and see? A lap isn’t that hard to recover from! And if you’re young, you should heal well! Then carry on with your contraception until you’re ready to conceive! Xx
I had a laparoscopy for endo around 2 years ago and overall it was a positive thing! I found out the stage of my endo, more information about fertility etc. It wasn’t too much of a long recovery and it’s definitey helped with symptoms in the long run ☺️.
