I am discussing a second Lap for Stage 4 Endo with bowel involvement (I'm 47) and my consultant wants to give me zoladex injections leading up to the op to make surgery easier and things less inflamed etc.
Has anyone taken this before an op/had a similar request?
I am very sensitive to meds so how does it make you feel/side effects?
Will it put me into immediate menopause? And what happens after I stop?
Could I resist her on this?
Thanks

Hi, yes I had stage 4 endo and was asked to go on it before my surgery. I had 2 months worth and my surgery was 3 days after my third. I think I started to feel a change within 10 days or so. The symptoms became more prominent, and more side effects as time went on.
You are in the menopause so have menopause symptoms. I had a bit of trouble sleeping, hot flushes (but not as bad or often i was expecting), anxiety and headaches. As I knew it was only 2 months I did not have HRT to help but I remember feeling that if it was longer I would probably have it.
My surgeon said I could turn it down but she recommended it very much, saying it was safer and easier to do the surgery.
On the plus side I would say my endo symptoms were 70% better while I was on zoladex and didn't have a period.
thanks for this, I'm super averse to taking anything and have managed with ibruprofen for years to the incredulity of my consultant! but will probably go along with it to make surgery easier. I suppose it's 'easier'because things are less clogged up, bloody and inflamed?
