Hi I was going to have a coil in after giving birth but after the ordeal I don't know if I can face the uncomfortable bit of it right now so was thinking of implant though I've not seen much literature on the implant and endo in the past before endo diagnosis I had it in as far as I remember no complaints but it scarred me badly and she couldn't remove it she had to give me a big cut in my arm as it got lodged in but still I can't think of the coil being inserted it must be because that area is so delicate it makes me cringe but then if I want implant out I'll be upset as back at square one
Is anyone on implant with endo could you ... - Endometriosis UK
Is anyone on implant with endo could you share your experience
Morning, I had the implant (this is going back 10 years) but it made me have irregular bleeding & awful cramping. I only stuck with it for 3 months though, so who knows if it may have settled if I left it longer (it also got stuck & I have a big scar). Have you considered the depo injection? (unless you're breastfeeding). I had that before too -
1st time I used it for 8 years & it stopped my periods completely but I was still getting mild-medium ovulation pains & I put on 2 stone (felt hungry all time).
2nd time was after rejecting the implant but it caused me the same symptoms... then we blessed to create our family & I'm not currently on anything... Waiting to have mirena inserted at laparoscopy appointment (also dreading it).
So, it seems we can have 2 different experiences from the same contraceptives depending on factors unknown to me. The one thing all experiences had in common were that they all negatively affected my moods, sex drive & depression.
Will be interesting to see what others say... Ultimately, I think it has to be trial & error for the individual
Hope you & bubs are enjoying your early days xx
I’ve had a coil coming up to two years now. Early on it was clear it wasn’t working because I was still getting periods and pain. My specialist also prescribed me ‘the pill’ which appears to hold things at bay. My moods were horrendous with the depo, would never go there again!! One thing I will say is that I’m aware I’m only masking my symptoms and wonder how bad things are getting without me knowing! I still have some pain and if I miss a pill within a day I experience pain. But the main thing is I can get on with my life, which before was almost impossible. Whatever you choose, I hope you can get some balance and be a relatively pain/ symptom free. Xxx
Thanks yes the main issue with me is pain and bleeding but the bleeding is getting to the point it affects me emotionally admittedly there are some people on here probably dealt with it longer but my endo came on suddenly within 8 months of symptoms I started bleeding from my back passage on my period and it really gets me down like why can't I be normal ?
I know how you feel, I tried going contraceptive free, for a year or so, in an attempt to be normal and that’s what caused the huge surge in my symptoms. I was so fed up with having to put hormones into my body! Learnt my lesson though. I’m always envious of friends who have 3 days periods! But it is what it is and I know at some point I will need an hysterectomy. At 41 though it feel a little early so will carry in as I am for as long as I can. I found cutting out dairy was useful in the beginning. Xx
