Need help!!

I really need some advice and I want to be seen by an endometriosis specialist/consultant who really knows their stuff. I’ve been left in the dark a bit by my GP. I don’t even know what stage endometriosis I’m at and recently I’ve had a lot of breakthrough bleeding on my pill (it’s not been red fresh blood it’s all been brown) sorry if that’s too much info..

And I’m getting a lot of stabbing pains around my vaginal inside and up to my left ovary (where I originally had a lot of surgery to remove tissue which caused my Fallopian tube to stick to my uterus and removal of abscess so heavy it caused my ovary to twist and that caused my tube to twist too).

I’m looking for a special in the Berkshire area but I am willing to travel, does anyone know of any really good consultants specialists for Endometriosis???

This is a list of uk specialists, you will have to Google which hospital they are based. Good luck in finding some answers endo is such a debilitating disease 😄

Hi

Names of consultants aren’t allowed here. If you look up BSGE and look up centres on their site, these are specialist centres. You’ll find a couple within travelling distance.

Are you looking at seeing a consultant privately or NHS? I saw one privately and then went on NHS list after initial lap and then referred to the NHS specialist as it was deep.

For NHS you normally need an endo diagnosis before referral to a centre, if you pay for a consultation with a specialist and they think you have it, they can choose to add you to their list, but do check first before confirming a booking.

Have you had any scans? Is your GP helping with pain management?

I am willing to go private and my GP diagnosed me with endo but only on the line of “I strongly believe you have endometriosis you need to go onto a combined pill” and that was kind of that. And the pill is kind of what they pointed me towards to reduce the pain levels.

I had a lot of scans before when I had my surgery, if you check my page I’ve written more detail about what happened

I think Frimley Park is the only Berkshire hospital listed with an endo specialist. But if you look at the reviews for Circle hospital in Reading, someone mentioned the name of a consultant who treated her endo there. I havent any direct experience but it's a start! Good luck :)
