Sorry if too much information, I had the coil inserted approx 3 months ago and since then I can’t have intercourse due to it being incredibly painful. I struggled before the coil but it seems to have got drastically worse since. Has any experienced anything similar?
Many Thanks

Have you had your coil checked? You may need to get a scan. Although you are measured and the coil is placed at the top of the uterus it can move and slip with normal uterus contractions (during period as the coil is settling). This happened to me and it ended up in the cervical canal instead of in the uterus. So sorry for tmi but to explain, it was hit with every thrust during intercourse causing pain. Go to your GP, explain that you are having pain during intercourse and it has worsened since the coil. The doc may decide to examine you to check for infection and to check the threads are visible but should send you for a ultrasound scan (like when you have a baby) to check the position of the coil as well. However due to covid, unless its urgent you may have to wait a while. If the coil has moved, there is nothing to worry about as it will still do its job, they will just arrange to take it out and replace it. Until then it will still do its job releasing progesterone and protecting you from pregnancy but it will obviously be uncomfortable so you should definitely see your GP to get it checked. Hope this helps. Take care 🤗
Thank you so much for your reply. I had a scan in November I think it was and they said it was in the right place but suppose it could of moved since then. Oh wow that sounds extremely painful!! Thank you so much I really appreciate your message, I’ve got an appointment on Saturday with my endo specialist so will ask then to see what he thinks. You take care too!☺️
