Hello, I am new to this and I have suspected endometriosis. I have been experiencing pain for about 2 years now, it started off with bad stomach pains accompanied with sickness where I attended A&E. They did blood tests but suspected nothing but an infection to which I was given antibiotics. 2 years on, I have had multiples blood tests, pelvic exams and a kidney ultrasound (as I get many water infections). The pain I experience is almost daily, (mostly at night) and can be sharp in the upper half of my stomach or in the lower half (not in one specific place) and recently I have been getting terrible pain in my pelvic area. I have a hot water bottle every night without fail and use a TENS machine for the pain, and have recently been offered the contraceptive pill which I have found makes my pain worse. Does this seem like endometriosis? As several people I know who suffer with it say my symptoms sound familiar?
Suspicious endometriosis?: Hello, I am new... - Endometriosis UK
Suspicious endometriosis?
It could be endo...anything else causing problems would have been picked up with scans/ blood tests
endo normally goes in sync with your cycle....do you find things worse mid cycle or when on period?
I’d agree with the people you know, sounds familiar 🙂Unless it’s someone experienced endo is hard to see on ultrasound, the only real way to confirm is lap.
Have you talked to your GP about your suspicions?
Blood tests have never showed anything for me, and half the uti I suspected were false. I ended up seeing a consultant privately and moved forward from there.
The endo UK site has great info, symptom diary, info for GP, etc.
Have you discussed pain management as well?
Good luck, hope you can get sorted soon 🙂
Thankyou and yes they don’t seem too interested, I was recommended the pill (expected) but it’s not seeming to be working, if anything I’m finding the pain worse. I was just told to take the usual ibuprofen painkillers for the pain
HiIf ibuprofen aren’t working do go back to GP, you’re at a point that you may have to be polite, but firm and establish your pain and discomfort and you’d like answers.
Naproxen is a stronger NSAID and often used for endo, there are the usual opiate based, Tramadol was suggested to me by the pain nurse and Amitriptyline by the consultant for nerve pain.
Keeping notes is very useful to show GP and/or consultant.
It’s important they find out if it is a gynae issue or something else.
If your GP website has an econsult form, most do, if you use this it’s gives an opportunity to write lots of info and have a record of it.
