I hope you are keeping well during these times on the run up to christmas. I had a quick question about pain relief - I have been given Diclofenac suppositories to use after I had to take a trip to A&E with horrific pain, which have worked a treat! However now they're starting to wear off and not work as well. They're still good, but they're also not the most appropriate for when I am at work because of the need to lie down for 15 minutes after to try and cope with the discomfort of having just put a medication bullet up my bum... TMI!
I spoke to a GP who isn't from my usual practice who has put me on Naproxen alongside with Omeprazole to make sure my tummy isn't damaged, but I am quite nervous about taking 2 anti-inflammatories! I know they're the best for this, but does anyone have any other pain relief ideas that they use too?
Thank you all! xx

It sounds like the GP has prescribed Naproxen instead of Diclofenac suppositories. You shouldn’t be taking both. If you’re concerned contact the GP again and ask him to clarify what medication he wants you to take.
I’m unsure of why you’d need to insert a suppository at work? They provide over 12 hours of pain relief. Could you insert the suppository before you go to work? Also, my GP told me that suppositories should only be used for a short period of time when pain is unbearable and because of the effect they can have on you internally.
I was a bit confused too but they said I can do both... I don’t think I will do both in one day! The suppositories were working wonders but they just aren’t doing much at the moment. They’ve put them on repeat for me and I’m a bit worried because I don’t want to be constantly taking anti inflammatories knowing what they can do!!
I use them at work because my pain isn’t every day, so I have one in my bag in case of emergencies. And sometimes it flares up at night, and I’m working night shifts xx
Hi I'm sorry to hear that, I would try the naproxen with omeprazole on its own to see if it helps. Does your pain occur every day? I take naprozen but was told it shouldn't be taken for more than 7 days in a row, then a break.
I have found many natural things that help with pain and inflammation - happy for you to send me a private message if you want the info. I'm not allowed to post links publicly as per the rules of the group.
Google LIVIA device. It’s brilliant. Like a TENS machine specifically for endo and period cramps, but you can walk round with it on. All those pain killers and meds can’t be good for you and especially not long term. Livia allows me to carry on if I’m in chronic pain.
