Developing Endo after having kids.

Are there any other mummies on here who didn't develop endometriosis until after having their children?

I have just been diagnosed (on Saturday) after a laparoscopy. I also had a hysteroscopy, polyps removed and corterisation of my cervix.

I had no difficulty conceiving my two children and only started getting heavy periods and intense pain a year ago. It got progressively worse very quickly!

Hi. I’m 45 and I had my two children in my 20’s and I was only diagnosed with stage 1 endo just under two years ‘s ago. I was having regular pain before and after my periods and difficulty with intercourse and using tampons. My consultant seem to think that having my children at a youngish age and being on hormones on and off had delayed the build up over the early years. I’m still having problems now but am back on hormones to see if that helps. Hope your recovery goes well and you’re clear of endo. 😁

Thanks for your reply Redrobin20. It's so strange that I had no symptoms until a year ago. My youngest has just turned 3. I'm hoping for a massive reduction in pain once I've healed from surgery. X

I was the same it takes around 3 years for onset of symptoms I guess endo has to grow a bit first

Same situation I did a lot of research and found that it can be caused after child birth in particular a c section did you have any c section deliveries ?

No I had two normal deliveries. The only thing I had was reoccurring thrush from age 18 till I got pregnant with my first when I was 28.

The issue is that giving birth can cause the endometrial layer to move outside the womb.any hoo my symptoms started around 3years after my daughter via c section had 2 previous children before that no worries went on to have a misscarrige after 3 successful deliveries almost sure endo was the cause and now pregnant again I now have a diagnosis of endo but had been struggling for a year to get one as was in pain suddenly for one year before getting pregnant again so yes it can happen though it's not spoke about often x

Yes, you always hear about women struggling to get pregnant with endometriosis but never that you can have kids then develop it. Thank you for your reply! I hope you get sorted too. X
