I have been taking zalkya Dienogest 2mg since may now and since I started taking o have bled ridiculously. At first I bled for 20 days then had a 8 day rest then bled for 16 days then since then I’ve had a period every 8 days. Literally 8 days on 8 days off. Well I haven’t had a period in 36 days which is really unusual.

Does anyone know what the tablet is actually meant to do? Does it normally stop periods? Can anyone help?

Hi,

I started taking Zafrilla Dienogest 2mg in January this year (Zafrilla is just the brand name where I live).

It works by thinking the womb lining, periods are usually reduced or stop, therefore pain is reduced.

After about 3 months of using this medication my periods almost stopped. Until that point they were also very up and down like yours! They came back when I started taking the pill in addition to the dienogest. The only other side effect I had were terrible headaches, which got worse the longer I took the dienogest and increased even more when I took the pill on top.

You probably know this, but you can still get pregnant with dienogest, even if your periods seem to stop or almost stop. You are still ovulating.

I hope that this one works for you!

Take care :-)
