I was diagnosed in August with endometriosis after suffering for 4 years with symptoms ( I’m 18 and symptoms started as soon as my periods began), and following my laparoscopy my consultant was really unsupportive. I’ve vomited every day since with pain and have been bed bound most of the time. I finally spoke to a private consultant who said he’s happy to help and my excision surgery is next Friday but I’m wondering what peoples experience of this is? Was it helpful and how was the recovery? I’d be grateful for any advice or stories anyone has 😊 sorry for the long post! xx

I am on the waiting list, so cannot share any experience but I cross my fingers for you. Is the laparoscopy not the operation of removing what needs to be removed? Reading your post sounds like you had the laparoscopy and now are booked for a second operation. I thought everything is normally done during the laparoscopy?
I was told if Endo was found in the laparoscopy that it would be removed but when I woke up my consultant told me that she hadn’t removed it and to do so she would have to do a large operation with a scar right across my stomach which would be very complicated and risky, but after going private I’ve been told it should have been removed in the first surgery and that’s what my second one aims to do. Thank you for your well wishes! Xx
Is it better to do the laparoscopy private? I have a private insurance, but I am worried that maybe private doc could be worse than the public ones that work in the large London hospitals. What do you think?
Personally my private consultant has been life changing! He is so much kinder and understanding and deals with me much better than I have ever had on the nhs. I’ve also had much quicker booking as I only confirmed I wanted the surgery 3 weeks ago and I’m in next week. My consultant is in Manchester so I can’t speak for London but I’d do some research and see the reviews of potential consultants and particularly ones who specialize in endometriosis and you should find out other people’s experiences but for me it was so worth it xx
