Unfortunately hysterectomy isn't a treatment for endo as it is outside the uterus. If you still have your ovaries you will still get cycle pain.

Full hysterectomy so they took ovaries aswell... was curious as to whether it was like a 'phantom' pain πŸ€”πŸ˜•

I had a full hysterectomy just over 3 years ago and I still suffer with pain most days. I was told that a hysterectomy would cure endometriosis, little did i know at the time it doesn't... 😞

I can only think there's traces of endometriosis in other areas.. I was told there was no guarantee I would be total pain free but didn't think it would still be as bad..it's a huge life changing thing to go through and still be suffering though πŸ˜πŸ˜•

Full hysterectomy is just the uterus and cervix. It all depends on whether your pelvis was thoroughly inspected and all endo excised at the same time. If not then it will still be there and endo doesn't need ovaries to grow.

It was never mentioned at the time if pelvis was checked so they probably didn't. 😒 X

No sadly that is so often the case in gynaecology; there still seems a belief by some consultant that hysterectomy cures endo. You must only be treated by someone with expertise in diagnosing endo. Please feel free to pm if you need more info on endo after hysterectomy. I was only diagnosed for the first time at age 51, seven years after hysterectomy and oophorectomy and it was stage 4 after being given HRT.

It's definitely weird....and with no docs appointments available just now I just wondered if it was happening to other ladies...will start to keep a diary..good idea..see if there is a pattern..πŸ‘πŸ˜‰

There are different terms for full hysterectomy. You need to find out what kind you had. If you didn’t have everything removed you will still get symptoms
