6 months after hysterectomy

So I had an abdominal hysterectomy 6 months ago and wow the difference is amazing. To be told I may never walk again and be stuck like that to exercising (which was my aim). Just taking everyday as it comes as I do still have endo flare ups once a month and know this disease won't stay away forever but has given me an opportunity to be me hopefully for a few years. I think now im more mentally prepared knowing ive taken every risk and tried all options

Hi. Lovely to hear your progress and you’re story. I’m scheduled for hysterectomy and removal of my ovaries at the end of July. I am hoping it can be done via keyhole though. Can I ask if you decided to take hrt or keep your ovaries? My surgeon feels my ovaries can’t be saved as they are covered in large cysts and stuck together. Taking hrt worries me as it might start the endo again but my consultant says due to my age (41) I should take it to natural menopause age. It’s such a tricky one. Doesn’t seem to be much info out there around hrt after endo removal. It is really good to read post like yours as helps with decisions we face to see such positive outcomes are possible. 😀

I had no choice everything had to go ( I'm 30) so Im on hrt. To be honest for me personally it works. I ve not had any hot flushes but then I was experiencing hot flushes beforehand. I am on tiblone so combined meaning the estrogen is low but enough to be healthy . It seems to work I just keep on top of my vit d. I hope all goes well for you. Just make sure you get a memory foam cushion to sit on 🤣 and a few comfy pillows for bed

So happy for you ☺️ Had my hysterectomy in January and feeling great after it at the age of 27 was a big decision but the best for me, hrt gel is suiting me thankfully Xx

Thats so good to hear! A scary decision to make at such a young age glad its going good for you to just nice to be free (ish)

Ok yes im on tiblone and seems to be ok. I was on it beforehand as I was on zoladex took a few months after that was fine

Yeh find it easier than tablets only reason I went on gel is consultant said it was advised before surgery

Hi ladies, I'm glad to hear you're doing well. I'm struggling with the decision of weather or not to get full hysterectomy (right ovary and tube have already been removed due to endo). I am in constant pain and have constant Endo belly. My husband doesn't understand ....have had more than 6 operations for Endo removal. Recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia and depression as well. Im so confused about what to do. My sister has had complete hysterectomy with hrt and still has Endo pain so I'm not sure what to do. Any advice?

I have a flare once a month but compared to the pain what I was in, it's nothing. I literally couldn't walk so I needed to really. When they went in they said nothing was salvagable It was even in my stomach wall but now my estrogen is much much lower. I think Id definitely weigh up the pros and cons like I tried injections, diet the lot so I took the risk. Obviously if it flares up bad now then it would mean bowel surgery so theres always that chance of more surgery but for me personally it enabled me to walk.

Hi I think everyone will react and recover differently I don’t have any pain now but fully aware it could all flare up later down the line but not much to attach to as I had a full hysterectomy, suffered with endo and adenomyosis so at least the adeno has gone ☺️

Not many people fully understand unless they have been through it or going through it I’ve found, take care Xx
