Does my bellybutton look infected?

Hi, 2 weeks post op and my bellybutton feels sore to touch & I just noticed some white stuff on the side which I’m assuming is pus but I’m not sure?? Any idea what it could be?? Should I be concerned and does it look infected?? it's also crusty, dry, itching and there's hard stitches hanging off the side where the pus is :( Also any idea what the skin coming out of my belly button could be? It looks hideous

Once again please excuse the hairy stomach 🤣

Hey! Mine looked very similar and then my scab fell off the next day and my belly button looks back to normal. I had a warm bath and dabbed it with a warm cotton pad xx

Ohhh okay thanks for letting me know, the white stuff is right by where there’s a loose piece of stitch that isn’t coming off so not sure if it could be due to that? Like a sort of reaction to it cause it does feel very irritated and itchy too.

It definitely looks infected to me. I’ve had a few laps and ended up with umbilical port infections, the last one last year turned into sepsis. I would get it checked if I were you xx

Hi Amy! 😊 I am not a doctor but, it definitely sounds like infection. The pus does not always have an odor in the beginning. As it gets worse, the pus totally starts getting darker in color and will have an odor. The belly button is still a part of the digestive tract. PLEASE see a doctor ASAP and no half stepping. 💛💛💛

Thank God!!! 🙏 I am so glad that you are being treated! The belly button is able to absorb oils and creams and circulate them all through the body. Please keep us uplated as to your progress. 😊💛💛💛

That’s good to hear! Hopefully it clears up soon as it’s feeling very irritated. Not sure whether it’s down to the stitches either but I’m hoping they fall out soon too. Will definitely keep you updated, thanks for your help! ❤️

Hiya! Yep I’ve been given oral antibiotics and a cream to apply 4 times a day. Not sure why the oral antibiotics were given though as the infection is on the skin but I’ll take them anyway x

I had oral antibiotics too, i guess it helps get to the infection through the blood stream 😊 glad you got something to help! Should hopefully start to feel better in a couple of days 🤞🤞

Ohh ok! That’s interesting because the cream im using is really greasy so it keeps the bellybutton all greased up when i thought it was meant to be kept dry for healing but i’ll see what happens😫
